Guwahati and other cities restricted traffic and parking for Chhath Puja, allowing only essential vehicles and devotees.
In preparation for Chhath Puja on October 27–28, Guwahati’s Kamrup Metropolitan district imposed traffic restrictions from 11 a.m. October 27 to 11 a.m. October 28, banning commercial and heavy vehicles from entering the city.
MG Road was closed to all vehicles except those carrying puja materials or devotees, with specific diversions for buses and heavy vehicles.
Only four-wheelers were allowed for devotees, and parking was prohibited at key locations including Lachit Ghat and several roads.
Designated parking zones were set up, and authorities urged committees to manage traffic and parking orderly.
Similar measures were taken in Dhanbad and Jamshedpur, where heavy vehicle access was restricted, ghats were inspected for safety, and surveillance was increased to ensure smooth and secure celebrations.
