Ghana charges former NAFCO boss and wife with $78M fraud linked to school meals, involving shell companies and luxury assets.
On October 25, 2025, Ghana's Attorney General revealed that former National Food and Buffer Stock Company CEO Hanan Abdul-Wahab and his wife were charged in connection with an alleged GH¢78.2 million embezzlement scheme, with over GH¢40 million linked to the School Feeding Programme.
The Economic and Organised Crime Office uncovered funds diverted through shell companies and luxury assets.
The former CEO and his wife were arrested in June 2025 and granted bail.
NAFCO’s current CEO, George Abradu-Otoo, called the scandal “unfortunate,” announced a new audit committee, and hired experts to strengthen oversight, amid ongoing legal proceedings and political debate over accountability.
