A cyclist was killed in Louisiana when a car struck her at night; police are investigating.
A 34-year-old cyclist, Erin Constantin of Rayne, was killed in a crash early Saturday on U.S. 190 in West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, when a 2024 Hyundai Elantra struck her from behind around 2 a.m. She was riding westbound in the left lane wearing dark clothing and had no lights on her bicycle.
Constantin was pronounced dead at the scene; the driver, uninjured and wearing a seatbelt, is not under suspicion.
Louisiana State Police are investigating, with toxicology tests pending.
Authorities are urging cyclists to use lights and reflective gear and motorists to stay alert, especially at night.
