An Australian-Pakistani man says Punjab police assaulted him, stole $3,000, and falsely arrested him in Lahore; one officer has been suspended.
An Australian citizen of Pakistani origin, Khawaja Zeeshan, has accused three Punjab Police officers of assaulting him and stealing AUD 3,000 in Lahore on October 24.
He said officers stopped his car near Bhatti Gate, beat him, confiscated his phone and keys, and took him to a station without cause, falsely claiming he ignored a stop signal.
One constable, Zaheer Iqbal, was suspended and booked after Zeeshan reported being physically abused, threatened with a gun, and forced to accompany officers to the station.
His family secured his release after arriving at the station and witnessing his injuries.

Lahore Police have launched an internal inquiry, with senior officials stressing accountability and promising legal and departmental action against any guilty officers.
