Alaska's natural resources commissioner resigns; John Crowther named acting replacement.
Alaska Natural Resources Commissioner John Boyle has resigned, the third top official to leave Gov.
Mike Dunleavy’s administration in recent months, with no reason provided.
Boyle, who served since 2023 after roles at BP and Santos, is replaced by John Crowther, the department’s former deputy commissioner.
Crowther, an Anchorage native and Georgetown law graduate, has extensive experience in state and federal energy policy and was appointed acting commissioner effective Oct. 24, 2025.
Dunleavy, in his final year, praised Crowther’s qualifications for managing Alaska’s natural resources responsibly.
