On October 24, 2025, West Bengal’s Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari condemned the vandalism of a Goddess Kali statue in South 24 Paraganas, calling it an insult to the deity and accusing Bangladeshi infiltrators and the Trinamool Congress of collusion with police.
He urged the Hindu community to unite and blamed TMC workers for an attack on Darjeeling MP Raju Bista, claiming it was politically motivated due to Bista’s rising popularity from flood relief efforts.
Adhikari described the violence as desperate and cowardly, asserting it would only strengthen opposition resolve amid escalating political tensions in the state.
