Starting in 2026, Singaporean Muslims performing the haj pilgrimage must obtain a medical certificate confirming they are fit for the physically demanding journey, per new rules from Saudi Arabia and Muis.
The certification, required for all applicants, disqualifies those with serious health conditions like organ failure, dementia, or active tuberculosis, though those with managed conditions like diabetes may still qualify.
Muis will prioritize applicants aged 70 and older who received a letter of intent before March 7, 2014.
Medical certificates are due by November 21, with travel packages to be purchased by December 15.
The change aims to ensure pilgrim safety and aligns with Saudi Arabia’s global health standards.
The requirement does not apply to umrah.
