A planning committee approved a 84-unit apartment project in Greater Sudbury despite resident objections over traffic and environmental concerns.
A planning committee in Greater Sudbury has approved rezoning for a narrow parcel on Bancroft Drive in Minnow Lake, allowing Ramsey Lake Developments Inc. to build three three-storey apartment towers with 84 units.
The project, which includes reduced parking and landscaping, was approved despite 24 written objections and a petition from residents concerned about traffic, noise, stormwater runoff, and environmental impact.
Officials cited alignment with regional planning policies and noted no traffic or shadow studies were required due to the site’s arterial road location and building height.
The development is expected to generate about $387,000 in annual tax revenue.
