Ohio sues to dissolve Lamb’s House nonprofit over alleged misuse of funds and failure to serve charitable purpose.
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has sued to dissolve the nonprofit Lamb’s House in Rogers, alleging its board, led by president Mark Altomare, misused charitable funds for years, allowing Altomare to live rent-free on its 43-acre property while diverting tens of thousands of dollars for personal expenses like groceries, utilities, subscriptions, and vehicle costs. The state claims the organization, founded in 2002 to support addiction recovery, no longer serves a charitable purpose, with its bank balance dropping to $3,067 by September 2024. Yost alleges board members failed to oversee operations, falsified financial reports, and improperly leased property to a for-profit business. The AG’s office is seeking a receiver, restitution exceeding $25,000, civil penalties of $10,000 each, and permanent bans on the defendants from future charitable roles in Ohio. The case is assigned to Judge Megan Bickerton.
