Liberal Democrats gain two Somerset seats in by-elections, boosting their council majority.
The Liberal Democrats won two Somerset Council by-elections in Dunster and Glastonbury following the resignation of Conservative councillor Christine Lawrence and the death of Lib Dem councillor Nick Cottle.
Cara Strom won Dunster with 1,142 votes, defeating Reform UK, Conservative, and Labour candidates on a 32.2% turnout.
Ewan Cameron retained Glastonbury with 882 votes, ahead of Reform UK, Conservative, Green, and Labour contenders on a 33.5% turnout.
The results strengthen the Lib Dems’ majority on the council, with the Conservatives remaining the largest opposition group.
