Karen Turnbull, 54, of Clydebank, quit smoking for the first time in 40 years after using NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s free Quit Your Way service.
She stopped on April 13, 2025, following health issues including breathing problems and poor circulation, and was told dental implants wouldn’t work while she smoked.
Within a day of contacting the service, she received a face-to-face appointment and has since experienced improved breathing, energy, skin, and leg sensation.
She also feels more confident smiling.
The NHS service, now expanding through community groups in the West of Scotland, offers personalized, free support to help smokers quit successfully.
Assistance is available via NHS Inform, a hotline, website, or local pharmacies.
