India to pick Bengaluru’s second international airport site soon, aiming for 2033 opening.
The Airports Authority of India is expected to submit its report on potential sites for Bengaluru’s second international airport within two to three days, according to Karnataka Industries Minister M. B. Patil.
The report, based on April site assessments, may recommend one or both locations under review.
The state cabinet will evaluate the findings, with final decisions pending financial feasibility studies and alignment with a 2033 deadline restricting new airports within 150 km of Kempegowda International Airport.
The project aims to relieve congestion and support regional growth, with construction expected to begin soon to meet a potential 2033 opening.
