Fijian MP Manoa Kamikamica granted $10K bail on perjury charges tied to a commissioner's appointment and inquiry statements.
Manoa Kamikamica, a Fiji MP, has been granted $10,000 cash bail after appearing in Suva Magistrate Court on perjury and false information charges related to his role in the appointment of a former FICAC commissioner and statements to a Commissioner of Inquiry between December 2024 and March 2025.
His lawyer, Wylie Clarke, criticized the evidence and questioned the legal authority of the acting FICAC commissioner, arguing the charges are flawed and seeking a stay of proceedings in the High Court.
The prosecution supported strict bail conditions, including sureties and travel document surrender, citing a potential seven-year maximum penalty.
