Ethiopia's coffee exports to China surged sevenfold in early 2025, making China its fourth-largest buyer.
China has become the fourth-largest importer of Ethiopian coffee, up from seventh place two years ago, with exports to China nearly sevenfold higher in the first quarter of Ethiopia’s fiscal year, reaching 9,470 tonnes and $65.49 million in revenue.
The surge is driven by growing Chinese demand for high-quality and organic coffee, along with improved logistics.
Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Belgium remain Ethiopia’s top three export destinations, followed by the U.S., South Korea, UAE, Japan, Italy, and Russia.
