Enshore Subsea installed the first major offshore cable for Scotland’s 1.1 GW Inch Cape wind farm, linking it to shore for power delivery.
Enshore Subsea has completed the installation of the first 85-kilometre, 220 kV offshore export cable for Scotland’s Inch Cape offshore wind farm, a 1.1 GW project off the east coast.
The cable, one of the largest AC export cables globally, was laid in three sections from the Port of Blyth using the CMOS Installer vessel, with two offshore joints made by the North Sea Giant.
It will connect the wind farm to an onshore substation in Cockenzie, East Lothian, and be buried in the seabed.
The second cable is scheduled for installation in 2026, with first power expected by late 2026 and full operations by 2027.
When operational, the wind farm will generate nearly 5 terawatt-hours annually—enough to power about half of Scotland’s homes.
