At least eight suspicious brush fires, each about 10 feet by 10 feet and with identical shapes, broke out Thursday morning along Queen Kaahumanu Highway in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii Island, between Hulikoa Drive and Hina Lani Street. The fires, quickly extinguished by passing motorists and emergency crews, caused no injuries or property damage and did not threaten nearby homes. Authorities suspect the fires were intentionally set and are investigating amid a statewide red flag warning that heightens wildfire risk.
