A Chinese-Kenyan consortium led by China Road and Bridge Corporation and Kenya’s NSSF has advanced to the next stage in bidding for a Sh200 billion toll road project, following approval from Kenya’s PPP Committee on October 9, 2025.
The project involves dualing 175 kilometers of the Rironi-Mau Summit road and rehabilitating 58 kilometers of the Rironi-Mai Mahiu-Naivasha stretch, with tolls set at KSh 8 per kilometer and adjusted annually.
The consortium, already operating major roads in Kenya through PPPs, will recover costs over 30 years.
Two other bidders were excluded.
