Bruce Power proposes four new nuclear reactors in Ontario to meet rising electricity demand, with a decision expected by April 2028.
Bruce Power is holding community meetings in Ontario to present its proposed Bruce C Project, which would add four new nuclear reactors and 4,800 megawatts of clean energy at its Tiverton site, aiming to meet a projected 60% rise in Ontario’s electricity demand over the next 25 years.
The project is under federal review, including public and Indigenous engagement, with a decision expected by April 2028.
If approved, construction could begin in three years, lasting about 14 years, potentially creating over 20,000 construction jobs and 12,000 permanent jobs.
The company is also extending the life of its existing reactors to 2033, increasing total site capacity to 7,000 megawatts.
