Bombay High Court upholds ₹250.82 crore award to L&T-STEC in metro dispute, allowing stay only if MMRCL deposits full amount within 8 weeks.
The Bombay High Court has denied an unconditional stay on a ₹250.82 crore arbitral award favoring L&T-STEC JV in a dispute with Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL).
Justice Somasekhar Sundaresan ruled the award, which includes ₹229.56 crore for GST reimbursement and ₹21.26 crore for additional works, was not so unreasonable or legally flawed as to warrant immediate suspension.
The court found the tribunal’s findings consistent with prior assessments and emphasized judicial deference to arbitral awards after thorough pre-arbitral processes.
MMRCL may only maintain a stay by depositing the full amount with interest within eight weeks; otherwise, L&T-STEC can withdraw the funds.
The dispute stems from a 2015 contract for metro tunnel and station construction.
El Tribunal Superior de Bombay mantiene el premio de ₹ 250.82 crore a L&T-STEC en la disputa del metro, permitiendo la suspensión solo si MMRCL deposita la cantidad completa dentro de 8 semanas.
