Bihar’s opposition alliance picks Mukesh Sahani, a Nishad leader, as deputy CM candidate ahead of 2025 polls to boost backward caste support.
Ahead of Bihar’s 2025 assembly elections, the INDIA bloc’s Mahagathbandhan alliance has named Mukesh Sahani, leader of the Vikassheel Insaan Party, as its deputy chief minister candidate, a move aimed at consolidating support among backward and marginalized communities, particularly the Nishad-Mallah group.
Sahani, a former Bollywood set designer and son of a fisherman, rose to prominence after leaving the NDA in 2020 over BJP influence and has since become a key figure in the opposition alliance.
His nomination follows tense negotiations over seat-sharing and underscores the bloc’s strategy to unify EBC voters, who make up a significant portion of Bihar’s electorate.
La alianza de la oposición de Bihar elige a Mukesh Sahani, un líder de Nishad, como candidato a CM adjunto antes de las elecciones de 2025 para aumentar el apoyo de las castas atrasadas.
