A Bathurst man ranks 7th in Australia’s lawn competition with a 9.2-scored kikuyu lawn maintained for 15 years.

Phil Cant, a Bathurst resident and former teacher, is ranked seventh in Australia’s Yates National Gardening League lawn competition with a score of 9.2 for his kikuyu grass lawn on Lorimer Street. He has maintained the lawn for 15 years, dedicating about five hours each weekend to care, including fertilizing after rain and consistent mowing. His score has risen from 6.2 since his first entry. The lawn features English box hedges, lavender, iceberg roses, and birch trees. The competition ends November 23 at 11:59 pm.
