Banner Health has reopened a renovated and expanded emergency department at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, adding 4,100 square feet of new space and upgrading 9,800 square feet.
The upgrade includes separate adult and pediatric areas, improved access, and enhanced privacy, supporting the facility’s role as a Level I trauma center serving about 120,000 patients annually, including 30% children.
Funding came from Thunderbirds Charities’ $450,000 donation and an undisclosed contribution from Salt River Project.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion, with community members and healthcare providers praising the improved patient experience and efficiency.
