A Vermont childcare provider faces charges after being accused of endangering infants with unsafe practices.
Savannah McKenzie, 34, operator of Kid Savvy Family Childcare in Hyde Park, has been charged with four counts of cruelty to a child following a joint investigation by the Lamoille County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermont Child Development Division.
The probe began on September 25 after staff tips raised concerns about safety violations.
Authorities found McKenzie had covered infants' faces with blankets, left a crying baby unattended, and placed a seven-week-old in a bouncy chair with pillows and blankets.
Other issues included denying children water outdoors, failing to train staff on emergencies, falsely claiming drills were conducted, and not maintaining proper staff-to-child ratios.
McKenzie, who could not be reached for comment, is scheduled to appear in Lamoille Court on November 26.
The case remains under investigation.
