A Vancouver officer was justified in shooting a man who attacked 7-Eleven workers with stolen knives, police say.
A Vancouver police officer was justified in fatally shooting a man who attacked two 7-Eleven employees with stolen knives and liquor, according to a British Columbia police watchdog report.
The man, who had previously asked for free cigarettes and stolen from a nearby restaurant, trapped the staff behind the counter and resumed stabbing motions after a stun gun failed.
The officer used lethal force to prevent death or serious harm, a decision the Independent Investigations Office deemed reasonable and necessary.
One employee suffered facial injuries requiring surgery, the other sustained head, back, and thumb wounds.
