NSW Ports advances revised Port Kembla plan for wind project, excluding nuclear subs, amid public input.
Despite the collapse of the Illawarra Offshore Wind Zone, NSW Ports is moving forward with a revised Outer Harbour project at Port Kembla to support offshore wind development, particularly in Victoria’s Gippsland region.
The plan includes dredging, land reclamation, and facilities for wind turbine components, with public consultation underway.
It aims to also support a future container terminal amid competition from Newcastle, while preserving recreational fishing and boating access.
