A North Carolina man arrested in Sept. for a murder is now linked to a June stabbing death in Rochester, where he allegedly killed a 65-year-old man before fleeing.
A 22-year-old man, Jaheim Bennett, arrested in North Carolina on September 18 for the murder of Destiny Tucker, is now linked to the June 8 stabbing death of 65-year-old Israel Vega in Rochester, New York.
Bennett, a parole absconder released in March 2025 after a 2021 robbery and assault conviction, allegedly stabbed Vega during an altercation in an apartment where he was staying.
Vega’s body was found the next day, having died at least 24 hours prior.
Authorities believe Bennett fled Rochester after the stabbing and was later arrested with a loaded handgun and drugs.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office is working with North Carolina officials to pursue murder charges.
