Indonesian workers are now fully trained to operate and maintain Southeast Asia’s first high-speed rail line, the Jakarta-Bandung HSR, following a two-year knowledge transfer program with Chinese experts.
A total of 513 Indonesians completed standardized training in operations, maintenance, and asset management, with 66 more nearing certification.
The line, launched in October 2023, runs at speeds up to 350 km/h, reducing travel time between Jakarta and Bandung from three hours to 45 minutes.
The project marks a major step toward Indonesia’s independent management of its high-speed rail system, with trained staff expected to mentor future generations.
