Grayson County Jail completes kitchen renovation, resuming hot meals starting Nov. 1, as part of a $39.5M expansion project.

Grayson County Jail has completed a major kitchen renovation, the first phase of a $39.5 million expansion project scaled down from $73 million. The upgraded kitchen, now 200 square feet larger with improved layout, safety, and storage, allows the jail to resume serving hot meals after operating on a “cold kitchen” since March. The project, which includes 166 new beds, a new book-in area, and an indoor recreation space, is on track for completion by January 2027, with exterior walls now being erected. The kitchen will fully reopen on November 1, 2025.
