Golar LNG secures $8B in EBITDA backlog with 20-year FLNG charter to Argentina, set for 2028 operation.
Golar LNG has confirmed all conditions are met for a 20-year charter of its MKII FLNG to Argentina’s Southern Energy S.A., securing $8 billion in EBITDA backlog—$400 million annually—before commodity exposure and inflation.
The vessel, being converted in China, is set for delivery by end of 2027 and operations in 2028 at the Gulf of San Matías.
The project, fully equity-funded with $1 billion spent, has secured a 30-year LNG export license and strategic investment status in Argentina.
With all three of Golar’s FLNGs now under 20-year contracts, the company has $17 billion in EBITDA backlog and plans to expand future FLNG growth.
