Connie Bobo, former executive director of a Missouri nonprofit, is on trial for allegedly embezzling $11 million in federal meal program funds meant for low-income children.
Prosecutors say she falsely claimed to serve six million meals while only providing food for fewer than three million, submitting forged documents and falsified receipts.
The funds were allegedly used to buy homes, a luxury car, and other assets, including $1.4 million given to her boyfriend.
She faces three counts of wire fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft for using a former friend’s name on documents, and one count of obstruction.
Bobo rejected a plea deal and maintains she acted in the community’s best interest.
The trial began October 21, 2025, and could result in over 20 years in prison and forfeiture of her assets.
