A chemical spill at a Green Bay meat plant was contained overnight with no injuries.

A chemical spill at a Green Bay meat packing plant on Lime Kiln Road was contained early Thursday morning after a cleaning acid tote tipped over during forklift transport around 1:45 a.m. No injuries were reported as workers had evacuated safely. The Green Bay Metro Fire Department’s Hazmat team responded, secured the leaking container, transferred remaining product to a spare tote, and directed spilled chemicals to on-site drains leading to a water treatment system. The site was cleared and returned to the company by about 5:30 a.m. No further details have been released.
