The U.S. Army buys nine more advanced Chinook helicopters from Boeing to modernize its heavy-lift fleet.
The U.S. Army has awarded Boeing a $461 million contract for nine additional CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters, bringing the total ordered to 18.
The modernized helicopters feature improved avionics, greater payload capacity, extended range, and enhanced durability, supporting the Army’s efforts to upgrade its heavy-lift fleet for future combat operations.
Six Block II models have already been delivered and are undergoing evaluation.
The aircraft will be deployed to two Combat Aviation Brigades and are expected to remain in service for decades, with production planning underway for future lots.
