Two former WLSA leaders in Lesotho are accused of stealing over $300,000 in donor funds from 2016 to 2022.
Two former leaders of Lesotho’s Women and Law Southern Africa (WLSA) are accused of misappropriating over R5.6 million in donor funds from 2016 to 2022, according to Lesotho’s Directorate on Corruption and Economic Offences (DCEO).
Mamosa Mohlabula-Nokana and Libakiso Matlho, both former executives and signatories on donor accounts, face charges of corruption, money laundering, and theft.
The DCEO has frozen Mohlabula-Nokana’s bank account and seized a Maseru property allegedly bought with stolen funds, citing suspicious transfers, cash withdrawals, and a failed construction project.
Investigators found evidence of illicit financing for a home loan, with repayments made using unaccounted funds.
Matlho, now at the African Union, has not yet been formally charged.
The case continues as the DCEO seeks asset forfeiture.
