Sarytogan Graphite gets $1M to advance a major Kazakhstan graphite project for battery anodes, aiming for completion by mid-2026.
Sarytogan Graphite has secured up to $2.2 million in interim funding from Kazakhstan-based Steinhardt Holdings NV to advance its definitive feasibility study for a major graphite project in central Kazakhstan. The first $1 million has been released, with up to $1.2 million available later, interest-free and to be offset against a future equity raise. The project, 190 km from Karaganda, holds a 229 million tonne resource grading 28.9% total graphitic carbon, with test results showing ultra-high-purity graphite at 99.9992% without chemical treatment. Designated strategically important under the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, the project has drawn investment from the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. Sarytogan aims to complete the DFS by mid-2026, targeting production of graphite for lithium-ion battery anodes to support global supply chain diversification.
