Rwandan President Paul Kagame, speaking at Mobile World Congress 2025 in Kigali, urged greater collaboration among governments and businesses to close Africa’s digital divide, noting only 25% of Sub-Saharan Africans used mobile internet in 2024. He highlighted the need for unified policies, secure cross-border data systems, and investment in infrastructure to boost connectivity and innovation. The event, attended by 4,000 delegates from 109 countries, brought together telecom leaders from the G6 group—Airtel, MTN, Orange, and others—to advance digital transformation through policy reform, sustainability, and regional cooperation.
