Rev. Bry Shields, president of McGill-Toolen Catholic High School since 1989, will retire June 30, 2026, to focus on his role as pastor at St. Ignatius Parish. The Archdiocese of Mobile confirmed the transition, noting Shields’ leadership helped grow the school to about 670 students and expand its facilities. No successor has been named, and a search process will begin soon. Shields, who began teaching at the school in 1982, cited strong leadership and a new strategic plan as signs of a promising future.
