Over 100 museum leaders gathered in Hangzhou to boost global heritage protection through digital innovation and cooperation.
A sub-forum in Hangzhou on October 19, 2025, part of the Third Liangzhu Forum, brought together over 100 museum leaders from China and abroad to discuss expanding museums’ roles in preserving cultural heritage.
Co-hosted by Chinese cultural agencies, the event highlighted digital preservation, community engagement, and international cooperation, with UNESCO’s Shahbaz Khan participating via video.
The International Alliance of Museums of the Silk Road admitted eight new members, growing to 180 institutions globally, and adopted the IAMS Hangzhou Declaration outlining six priorities, including digital innovation and collaborative heritage protection.
The forum concluded with a museum tour and cultural exchange.
