Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has ordered a CBI probe into a major police sub-inspector recruitment scam linked to the 2024 Combined Police Service Examination.
The scandal involves alleged outsourcing of the exam to private firms, including Silicon Techlab and Panchsoft Technologies, tied to a key suspect, Sankar.
Authorities arrested 117 individuals, including middlemen, in Berhampur, with three more detained later, after uncovering evidence of leaked questions and candidates being coached in Andhra Pradesh.
The exam, originally set for March and rescheduled to October 5–6, was postponed amid the investigation.
Over 1.53 lakh applied for 933 positions.
The state is also considering creating a permanent commission to oversee future police and uniformed service recruitment.
