Michael McCoy sentenced to 10 years for robbing two Virginia banks with a gun and a note.
Michael Anthony McCoy, 67, of Roanoke, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for robbing two Truist Bank branches in October 2022.
He pleaded guilty to bank robbery with a dangerous weapon and another count of bank robbery.
During the October 26 robbery at Melrose Avenue NW, McCoy used a threatening note written by accomplice Dawn Davis and brandished a firearm, stealing $6,485.
Two days later, he robbed a second branch on McClanahan Street SW, taking nearly $6,000.
Davis previously received a two-year sentence.
The case was prosecuted under the Ceasefire Virginia initiative, with federal authorities citing the use of a firearm and a distinctive outfit, including an orange beanie and “ECKO” sweatpants.
