James Bachmurski sentenced to 50 years for second-degree murder of 15-year-old Jade Colvin, who vanished in 2017.
James David Bachmurski, 66, was sentenced to 50 years in prison with a 35-year mandatory minimum for the second-degree murder of 15-year-old Jade Marie Colvin, who vanished in March 2017 after traveling to Bachmurski’s farmhouse in Winneshiek County, Iowa.
The conviction followed a trial that concluded in early September 2024, after a two-year investigation reopened in 2022 when federal officials linked Bachmurski to Colvin’s last known location.
Colvin’s body has never been found, and her family delivered emotional victim impact statements.
Bachmurski’s legal team plans to appeal, citing insufficient evidence, while the sentencing hearing took place on October 21, 2025.
