Irish wholesale prices dropped 2.6% yearly in September, but retail energy remains three times higher.
Ireland's wholesale prices fell for the eighth straight month in September, dropping 0.4% monthly and 2.6% annually, with manufacturing prices declining at a slower pace than in August.
Wholesale electricity prices dropped 16.2% year-on-year, while dairy product prices rose 11.1% and vegetable and animal oil prices fell 16.2%.
Export prices fell 3.1%, and domestic sales prices rose 1.2%.
Despite falling wholesale costs, retail energy prices remain three times higher than wholesale, according to the IEA.
