India’s UN fund installed solar power in 12 Pacific buildings, cutting emissions and boosting clean energy access.
The India-UN Development Partnership Fund has provided solar energy to 12 public buildings across 10 Pacific Island nations, including Fiji’s State House, which now generates 20,000 units of clean electricity annually, cuts carbon emissions by 9,600 tons over 25 years, and saves $3,198 in energy costs yearly.
The project trained 74 local technicians and expanded clean water access in Haiti through solar pumping systems, benefiting over 40,000 rural residents.
Managed by the UN Office for South-South Cooperation, the initiative supports sustainable development and local capacity building in underserved regions.
