India’s Diwali 2025 trade reached a record Rs 6.05 lakh crore, a 25% increase from 2024, driven by lower GST rates, rising consumer confidence, and strong demand for Indian-made goods. The surge, fueled by spending across sectors like groceries, gold, and electronics, generated about 50 lakh temporary jobs, with rural and semi-urban areas contributing 28% of sales. According to the Confederation of All India Traders, the growth was attributed to government policies and improved disposable income, as 87% of consumers favored domestic products.
