India trained over 606,000 people in CPR during a national week to improve cardiac emergency response.
Over 6.06 lakh people in India received CPR training during a national awareness week from October 13–17, 2025, organized by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The campaign aimed to boost bystander response in cardiac emergencies, engaging over 7.47 lakh through events, live demos, and a digital pledge on MyGov. Training was delivered by health departments, hospitals, and organizations like AIIMS and the Indian Red Cross. The government promoted hands-only CPR—100 compressions per minute—as a life-saving tool, stressing the need for trained individuals in every household, school, and public space. Despite CPR’s proven benefits, India’s bystander rates remain low, making the initiative a critical step toward improving survival outcomes.
