A former Worcester teacher was sentenced to a two-year community order for grooming and assaulting a pupil in the 1990s.
Mark Baker, 53, a former teacher at The River School in Worcester, was sentenced on October 21, 2025, to a two-year community order for two counts of indecently assaulting a pupil under 16 in the 1990s.
The abuse, which occurred when the victim was around 12, involved grooming and physical contact, violating his position of trust.
Baker, who pleaded guilty, was also ordered to complete 50 rehabilitation days, 180 hours of unpaid work, pay £150 in costs, and register as a sex offender for five years.
The victim, now an adult, was not named.
Police emphasized that reports of historical abuse are taken seriously, and commended the victim’s courage in coming forward.
