flag A former Idaho deputy faces felony charges for violently assaulting an intoxicated jail inmate in 2023, captured on video.

A former Boundary County Sheriff's Office deputy, Bryant Brown, 37, faces felony aggravated battery charges for allegedly severely assaulting an intoxicated jail inmate in 2023, according to court documents and video evidence. The incident, captured on cell camera, shows Brown shoving the man into a window, striking him in the head and throat, slamming his head into a wall, and throwing his limp body across a cell. The inmate suffered visible injuries, bled, sobbed, and was hospitalized. Despite the video and an initial POST investigation, no criminal charges were filed under the prior sheriff’s administration. The case was referred to prosecutors in August 2025, leading to charges in September. Brown has not appeared at his initial court date, posted bond, and remains under an ongoing POST decertification review. Current Sheriff Travis Stolley said the prior leadership failed to pursue charges or properly document the incident.
