The Fairmont Tokyo opens in Minato as part of a major urban renewal project, featuring 217 rooms and panoramic views.
The Fairmont Tokyo has opened in Minato ward as part of the Blue Front Shibaura redevelopment, transforming a former cargo yard and site of Japan’s tallest building into a mixed-use urban hub.
Designed by late Pritzker Prize-winning architect Fumihiko Maki and Melbourne’s BAR Studio, the hotel occupies Tower S with 217 rooms, an infinity pool, spa, gym, and five dining venues offering bay and city views.
The project, part of Tokyo’s urban renewal driven by updated building codes and rising tourism, will include residences, retail, green spaces, and improved transit, including a new rail hub and Blue Ferry service.
Construction of the north tower begins in 2027, with the full development expected by 2030.
