Entergy Mississippi broke ground on the $1.2 billion Vicksburg Advanced Power Station, a 754-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas plant on the site of the former Baxter Wilson Steam Station.
The project, part of the company’s Superpower Mississippi initiative, marks its first new natural gas plant in over 50 years and is expected to create more than 560 construction jobs, 21 permanent jobs, and boost local tax revenue.
The facility, set for completion by 2028, aims to improve grid reliability, support economic growth, and reduce projected bill increases by 16% over the next five years.
