Catholics in Davao City to march against corruption; activists protest alleged fund misuse.
Around 30,000 Catholics in Davao City are set to attend a penitential walk and Mass on October 25, organized by the Archdiocese in response to a national call by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines for a Day of Prayer and Repentance against corruption.
The event, beginning at 4:15 a.m. with prayers and a 6 a.m. Mass at San Pedro Cathedral, will feature participants from parishes, schools, and lay groups who will march from three sites to the Agila Stage, wearing white and carrying symbolic items.
The archdiocese emphasized the gathering as a moral stand against corruption, excluding political figures and focusing on civic participation.
Meanwhile, about 50 progressive activists protested in Davao City on October 21, demanding accountability for alleged misuse of public funds, criticizing government spending practices and the labeling of activists as criminals.
