A Bournemouth teacher banned indefinitely for racist and harmful remarks about honor killings and FGM in a 2022 lesson.
Alex Lloyd, a teacher at The Bishop of Winchester Academy in Bournemouth, has been banned indefinitely from teaching in England after a misconduct hearing found he made inappropriate and harmful remarks during a lesson on honor killings in 2022.
The Teaching Regulation Agency confirmed he mocked students' religion, linked honor killings and female genital mutilation to specific cultures, used students’ family members as examples, and made shocking statements, including telling a student she would have been killed for her clothing in Iran.
Despite admitting all allegations and having generally positive relationships with staff and students, the panel found no remorse or understanding of the harm caused.
The ban, effective until at least October 2029, prohibits him from teaching in any school, college, youth accommodation, or children’s home in England.
The school supports the decision and reaffirmed its commitment to student safety and professional standards.
